Meet The Face Behind Duffy Design Group

I’m Dennis Duffy, the proud owner of Duffy Design Group.

I look forward to sharing my story in the hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.

After completing my undergraduate degree, I decided to take a break to figure out my career path.  By happenstance, I took a position in a high-end Italian furniture showroom, which gave me an introduction to interior design.

I found interior design intriguing, so I decided to move from Miami to New York in the early ’80s and enrolled at Parsons School of Design. After completing my certificate program, I began an internship with a small residential design office.

Once I learned the ropes, I opened my first interior design studio in 1989. I was still young enough to believe that running a business would be easy and allow me to express my creativity. However, while I enjoyed the freedom to create, I had to work hard to establish my name.

I later moved to Boston in the mid-’90s and joined a design company while gaining advanced qualifications. Consequently, after two years of learning new skills, I felt I was ready to relaunch my interior design firm, and three decades later, I’m still going strong.

During the last thirty years, I’ve noticed that the interior design industry has evolved significantly due in large measure to the explosion of the internet. Clients became much more exposed to interior design products and styles.  They became more confident in their aesthetic choices and this has enabled them to participate more fully in the design process.

During the design process, I enjoy finding solutions that help the clients satisfy their functional and aesthetic goals in a way that complements the architectural envelope. I take the same approach to both residential and commercial projects.

I become very personally involved in each of my projects and strive to achieve a result that is unique to the individual client and their circumstance.  And, I carry that sense of responsibility all the way through the completion of the project.   I believe that one of my greater strengths is the ability to listen carefully to what clients tell me, even the things that are not said directly.  For me, there is no greater satisfaction than a client who loves the environment that I have helped create.

I also believe strongly in mentoring young designers and have been very proud of many of their achievements.

When I’m not designing interiors, I love cooking, photography, and speaking Italian. I also like tennis, swimming, and biking.

I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I approach my work.

If you or someone you know could benefit from my expertise as an interior designer in Tampa, Florida, I invite you to get in touch. Please visit my website at www.duffydesigngroup.com.

Sincerely,

Dennis
